Phase 1 Closure

Project Info:

The project included the installation of 80,000 m2 of a partial landfill cover and gas recovery layer over top of the existing trash deposit area, and the installation of a gas collection system.  The collection system utilizes both vertical and horizontal wells attached to a vacuum extraction system to draw the build-up of methane gases into a flaring disposal system.  Site drainage and water retention works included the excavation of a 100,000 m3 detention pond intended to capture all surface water run-off from both the landfill closure and a pre-existing ditch structure.
