A critical timeline to completion saw the excavation of 450,000 m3 of site gravels that house the landfill cell in just over a month, allowing for the installation of a triple layer bentonite - HDPE liner system that serves to prevent leachate from entering the local environment. Both the HDPE liner and leachate collection piping systems were installed throughout the fall months of 2016, with a project completion date in early 2017.
